Music & Arts

KCBAS supports the development of an on-campus recording studio. A generous donation from the Boss/Roland Corporation of a 12-track digital studio recording unit has kicked off a major effort to create and maintain a completely accessible studio space. The technology to have a functional recording studio that is accessible to students who are blind does exist, but requires monetary support to make the dream a reality. With additional support and funding, students will have the opportunity to explore vocational interest areas, such as music recording, engineering, and production.

Students will also have the opportunity to record audio books, do voice over work, produce commercials, and learn the business of audio mass production, duplication, and distribution. Goals that students have of working in the music business are achievable if they have access to the appropriate technology.

KCBAS also partners with Accessible Arts to provide experiences in art, especially tactile media (clay and fiber).
