Leadership Note: Tara Clevenger

With the start of each new school year, I’m inspired again by the energy, resilience, and creativity of the students and families that KCBAS serves. I see firsthand how your support fuels opportunities, whether it’s adaptive sports, music enrichment, STEM exploration, or the confidence that comes from building skills and having a community that believes in you.

One of the most fun events of our year is just around the corner: the KC Blind All‑Stars 5K & Walk. This gathering isn’t just a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of inclusion, independence, and community support. Whether you run, walk, roll, volunteer, or cheer from the sidelines, your presence amplifies the message that students who are blind or visually impaired deserve every opportunity to thrive. Registration is open now, and we would love to see you, your team, your family, and your friends out on the course.

As we prepare for the months ahead, our team is focused on expanding access and cultivating opportunities, strengthening community support for the Kansas State School for the Blind, and meeting needs that empower students to explore their talents and abilities. Your continued partnership makes this work possible, and we are deeply grateful.

Thank you for standing with us and for helping build a future full of possibility.
